What is Coaching?

A coach works towards assisting a client obtain their desired goals. A coach is able to achieve this by using a range of techniques and powerful tools, to assist the client in unlocking their own answers, by gaining clarity in relation to what they want and what may be holding them back, from achieving their desired goals. The coach will work towards, co-creating a relationship, asking powerful questions and helping the client to become more aware, whilst being accountable and assisting the client in designing actions. This then will hopefully assist the client to experience a range of breakthroughs to achieve their ambitions.

A coach is not a therapist, counsellor, consultant or mentor. The coach does not provide the client with advice. The main difference is that a coach focuses upon future possibilities, rather than reflecting upon the past. Therefore, the coach will utilise techniques that assist the client in exploring their desires and goals.

Upon the initial meeting, Nathalie will establish what is appropriate within the coaching relationship with the client and together they will determine as to whether her coaching method meets the client’s needs. Nathalie operates within the International Federation Code of Ethics.

Nathalie “adheres to the elements and principles of ethical conduct: to be competent and integrate ICF Core Competencies effectively in her work.”

Values Based Approach

Nathalie uses a values based approach to form the basis of her coaching work with individuals. Our values represent who we would like to be and how what it is we want to stand for in our life. What kind of co-worker, manager, partner, employee or friend do you want to be? Our values are what direct us towards the behaviours that truly reflect the type of person we are working towards being.

By clarifying our values and ultimately confirming what is meaning and purposeful within our life and identifying what steps we need to take in order to being that person is crucial, as our values are in essence what guide our behaviours. Our values represent our deeply held beliefs and essentially motivate us, as individuals to create and maintain change within our behaviour. As a result, our values influence the decisions that we make. By identifying our inconsistencies between our behaviours and our values, we are then able to change our behaviour, so that it is more like to reflect our values.
